Job Summary

Operational Risk Management (ORM) is part of the Compliance, Conduct and Operational Risk (CCOR) group and we form part of JPMorgan’s Risk Management and Compliance organization. We maintain oversight of the firm’s compliance, conduct and operational risk management activities and are responsible for the design and execution of a comprehensive Risk and Control framework. We are considered a second Line of Defense (LoD) function and proactively manage operational risk to defend the firm against the negative impacts of operational errors.

Job responsibilities

  • Leveraging the Firmwide CCOR Management Framework to Identify, Measure, Monitor, Manage, Report and Govern Operational Risk for the CIB Markets Businesses
  • Understanding and assessing Key and Emerging Risks for Global Markets businesses, including staying abreast of industry news and regulatory developments to facilitate proactive risk identification and mitigation
  • Reviewing and challenging risks, processes and controls identified by the first LoD and escalating where required
  • Independently assessing operational risks and control environments and raising Issues for the first LoD to remediate where relevant. Assessments are done through quantitative and qualitative means including review of performance against Key Performance Indicators and collaborating with the CCOR Testing team to test the effectiveness of controls
  • Liaison with key stakeholders across first, second and third LoD including communicating the results of any monitoring and testing activities

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Degree-qualified with at least 6 years of relevant experience in Compliance, Operational Risk, Middle Office, Operations or equivalent function. Familiarity in supporting Markets businesses (e.g. Equities, Sales), product and electronic trading will be an advantage.
  • Experience in Risk and Controls management with an understanding of products and operations trade flow processes and lifecycles.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and project management skills with successful track record of completion.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to drive change and deliver results.
  • Strong team player and ability to communicate clearly and concisely in a fast-paced environment
